I guess the title is.. okay... xD There is a sky!

You did it with the purple again!! (but this picture is older than the classic 50k views sonic I just looked at... I just ADORE that purple shading!!! I like how, in this picture, the purple shading separates the body from his spikes. LOVE YOUR WORK, KEEP IT UP!! C:

yeah i like adding purple to blue it compliments the purple. Then again I just like to experiment with colors.

It really does! I usually see my favorite artists add yellow to the highlights, but doesn't complement as much and its a little intense for me. Like you said, the purple shading complements the blue! And its pleasing to the eyes! C:

It's always great to discover! Adventure through the coloring techniques find which one is good for you! (lol a little cheesy statement) Open your heart! (sonic songs are really getting to me now... xDD ) I'd love to see more cool techniques, but I didn't see your whole gallery yet because I'm in a little bit of a hurry at the moment... but I will come back to it later!
